Who We Are

Your Builder Co-Pilot operates this website and provides independent building advisory services, digital products and educational resources for Australian homeowners. References to 'we', 'us' or 'our' in this policy mean Your Builder Co-Pilot.

Our contact details are available on the Contact page of this website. You may also write to us at the address provided there.

What Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities. The types of personal information we may collect include: your full name and email address when you submit a contact enquiry or purchase a digital product; your phone number and project details when you book a building adviser consultation; your name, email address and payment details when you transact through our payment processors; building documents, quotes, contracts and related files that you voluntarily upload as part of a paid service engagement; and technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type and pages visited when you use our website.

We collect sensitive information only where you voluntarily provide it as part of a service engagement (for example, details about your building project included in uploaded documents). We handle any such information with additional care and use it only for the purpose for which it was provided.

Where it is lawful and practicable to do so, you may interact with us anonymously or using a pseudonym. However, we may not be able to provide certain services if we cannot identify you.

How We Collect Personal Information

We collect personal information directly from you when you: complete and submit our contact form; purchase a digital product through Payhip or via Stripe checkout; book a consultation through our online booking system; upload building documents as part of a paid service; or communicate with us by email.

We may also collect information indirectly through website analytics tools that record how visitors interact with our site. This data is generally aggregated and non-identifying, but may include IP addresses.

We will only collect personal information by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way.

Why We Collect and How We Use Your Information

We collect and use your personal information for the primary purpose for which it was collected and for related secondary purposes you would reasonably expect. These purposes include: delivering digital products you have purchased; providing expert builder review, pre-contract review or cost estimate services you have engaged; confirming and managing consultation bookings; responding to your enquiries; processing payments; sending service-related communications such as booking confirmations and delivery notifications; improving our website and services; and complying with our legal obligations.

We will not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent. If you have opted in to receive updates from us, you may unsubscribe at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in any marketing communication.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties. We may disclose your personal information to third-party service providers who assist us in operating our business, including: Stripe Inc (payment processing); Payhip Ltd (digital product delivery); email service providers used to send booking confirmations and service notifications; and website hosting and infrastructure providers.

These service providers are required to handle your information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and our instructions. They are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

We may also disclose your information where required or authorised by law, including to regulatory bodies or law enforcement agencies.

Some of our third-party service providers may be located outside Australia (for example, Stripe is headquartered in the United States and Payhip is headquartered in the United Kingdom). Where we disclose personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure those recipients handle your information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Your Building Documents

When you engage us for an expert builder review, pre-contract review or cost estimate service, you may upload building quotes, contracts, plans or other documents. These documents are used solely to provide the service you have requested. We do not share, sell or use your building documents for any other purpose.

Uploaded documents are stored securely and retained only for as long as necessary to deliver the service and meet our record-keeping obligations. You may request deletion of your documents at any time by contacting us, subject to any legal retention requirements.
